When does the 2018-19 Season begin? When is the first practice?

Tryouts be held September and October. Official team practices will begin the week of November 5th, 2018. Once tryouts are completed and teams are formed, you will be able to find the practice schedule under the Important Dates tab and the Teams tab.  Please remember that some practice days may change throughout the season due to coaches' schedules, gym availability, additional preparation for an upcoming tournament, and other factors.
What days are the tournaments and how many days?
Tournaments occur primarily on Saturdays or Sundays.  Regional teams will play in mostly one-day "local" tournaments  ("local" = Rochester and within a two-hour drive of Rochester).
When does the season begin? When does the season end?
Team practices will begin the week of November 5th, 2018, and end in April.
Tournament season begins in January.
How do I receive timely information?
Please check the web site and our Facebook page, Impact Volleyball Club,  on a regular basis for updates. Additionally, we will communicate frequently through e-mails and periodic parent meetings. Once the team rosters are finalized, each team will have a Team Parent. This should help to ensure timely and effective communication.
I played last year.  Do I still have to try out?

YES! Regardless of how many years you have played, you MUST attend tryouts. This is not optional. We have tryouts to provide us with the best understanding of each athlete’s skills so that we can most appropriately place players within each team and age group on our Club.

Can I get a refund?

Membership and team costs will NOT be refunded for players who choose to leave before the end of the season.

What day(s) are practices?
Practice days, times and locations will be listed on the website as they are determined. Teams will be practicing 2 nights per week Monday - Thursday.
What are Clinics?
Skills Clinics are additional multi-age level practices held throughout the season.  These clinics will focus on a target area (i.e., hitting, serving, setting, footwork) and will be posted on the website with times, dates and locations. Clinics are not mandatory; however, all Club members are encouraged to participate when possible.
How many girls are on a team?
A minimum of 10 and no more than 12 players will be chosen for each team based on skill, attitude, position, and teamwork.
Will my daughter be on the same team with classmates from her school?
Not necessarily.  IMPACT strives to create diverse teams of compatible skills and abilities.
Can my daughter play up/above her age level?
Only the Director, in consultation with the coaches, has the discretion of moving a player up from her age group.  Girls will try out at the age level they qualify for under USA Volleyball age category definitions and, upon evaluation, will be asked to move up if it is warranted.
What if my daughter does not make a team?
Team selection will be competitive this year and will be based on demonstrated skills and attitude during tryouts. Girls who try out but do not make a team will have first priority for as a Practice player. No tryouts are required to join as a Practice Player.
We missed tryouts. Can we still join?

Once teams are established, “new” girls may be placed on a waiting list. In the event that a space opens on a team, a "waiting list" player may be asked to join a team at the discretion of the Director and coach.

My daughter plays other sports but still wants to play some volleyball. Do you have anything for her?
Yes! We have a House League for girls who are looking for volleyball without the time commitment of weekend tournaments and multiple practices per week. The House League will practice once per week. All ages and abilities are welcome, and no tryouts are necessary. The House League is also split into two sessions to offer flexibility for girls who play a winter sport or a spring sport and who wish to play volleyball only in their off-season.
How do I keep up with important information about IMPACT?
Impact uses a Club website, Facebook, e-mail and periodic parent meetings as the primary communication tools. Once teams are selected, each Team will have a Parent Rep to help ensure timely and accurate information.
I want to be added to the e-mail distribution list for the upcoming season. What should I do?
Send an e-mail to the Club Secretary using the Contact tab on the bottom of the home page on this website.
